Among the authors at the second annual Ben Wheeler Book Fair were the single-named Imaj and Richard Dobson. In addition to her coming-of-age novel “Harlow,” Imaj brought her debut, eponymous CD that recently climbed into Billboard’s “new and emerging artists” list. Dobson, whose songs have been recorded by a number of other musicians, brought two memoirs plus his albums. Folk icon John Prine called Dobson one of America’s great songwriters and Nanci Griffith called him the “Hemingway of country music.”
While the recent Ben Wheeler Book Fair succeeded on its own terms, follow up analysis also shows some of the economic impact such local events can have on a community.
