Deadline to become 2013 Azalea Belle approaching | Events
From The City of Tyler:
For forty-nine years, Azalea Belles have welcomed tourists to the Azalea and Spring Flower Trails in true southern style. The first time Azalea Belles welcomed visitors to the Trail was in 1964 when two secretaries for the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce made their own costumes and took to the gardens handing out brochures and greeting guests. Now, over thirty Belles apply and are chosen from area high schools.
This year’s deadline to apply to become a 2013 Belle is quickly approaching. Belles are positioned throughout the Trails to hand out brochures, pose for photos, and greet guests. Girls interested in becoming a Belle must be either a freshman or sophomore in good academic standing and be home schooled or attend school in Smith County.
Belles must also be able to commit to multiple events throughout the duration of the Trails. The deadline to apply is January 25. Applications can be downloaded at www.tylerazaleatrail.com or you can pick one up at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, 315 N Broadway, Tyler TX.
