New armed forces reserve center opens in Tyler | News
TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The new U.S. Armed Forces Reserve Center was dedicated today.
The 97,000 square foot building is on Highway 31, just west of Tyler.
The complex holds twelve classrooms, a distance learning computer lab, a large dining hall, a state of the art gym facility, and simulated weapons center for the two Army Reserve units and one Texas Army National Guard unit that are housed here.
Army leaders say even the ability to be in the same facility with other units is a novelty that will greatly benefit their troops.
"With us being able to cross-train with other units, it's more realistic training, because we always want to train as we fight," said Sergeant First Class Mullin of the U.S. Army.
The facility is closed to the general public, but tours or matters concerning Army assistance can be scheduled by contacting the center.
